Sydney FC have announced that star forward Cortnee Vine, along with defender Charlotte McLean will the depart the club, the former signing with North Carolina Courage.
Head coach Ante Juric is full of praise for the duo, who have been integral parts of a trophy-laden four years for the club.
“It is sad to see Charlotte and Cortnee leave the club, but I am extremely proud of them and wish them all the best in the USA,” he said.
“They are excellent players and more importantly great people. I will miss them.
“They have been fantastic for Sydney FC and have both made important contributions to our success.
“They have always worn the shirt with pride and given everything, which is truly special and our members will remember that.”
Vine describes her four years at Sydney FC as having a life-changing impact on her.
“Sydney FC has given me the platform to achieve my goals, enjoy a lot of success and move on to the next stage of my career,” she said.
“I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunities I’ve had as a Sydney FC player and one day I would love to return to Sky Blue.
“We have a fantastic squad and some unbelievably talented young players, so I’m convinced the club is in good shape to defend our title.”
McLean says that she will never forget the experience and development that she has undergone while at Sydney FC.
“It has been a wonderful and incredibly successful last four seasons, built on a winning mentality and a fantastic team culture,” she said.
“Sydney FC has given me the chance to fulfill many of my sporting dreams and helped open a pathway to my next challenge.”
On Saturday (AEST), it was announced by North Carolina Courage that Vine had signed on a three-year deal with the club through to the end of the 2026 NWSL season and is eligible to join the roster when the transfer window opens on August 1.
Vine says that the biggest reason she is excited to play at the Courage is the style of play, where she will also link up with a former teammate from the Western Sydney Wanderers.
“They play beautiful, possession-based football,” she said.
“I’m excited to be part of the culture. I know some of the players and used to play with Denise O’Sullivan. She’s a humble person and a fantastic player and I can’t wait to be a part of the culture she’s spread with the Courage.”
Charlotte McLean’s exact destination is currently unknown.
UPDATE
North Carolina Courage also announced the signing of McLean on Tuesday (AEST), joining Vine at the NWSL club.
