Adelaide United has confirmed that Carl Veart will depart at the end of the current season, with the club having chosen not to exercise a one-year extension option.
Veart is the longest serving manager in Adelaide’s 21-year history as a club, leading the Reds since 2020, when he took over from Gertjan Verbeek part way through the season.
His time at the club has coincided with a shift towards an SA-focused identity, with Adelaide United embracing its important position within the local football community.
Adelaide United owner Cor Adriaanse says the club is committed to continuing to build on this legacy left by Veart.
“Change is never easy, but it is a natural part of growth. This decision has been made as part of a broader long-term strategy — one that Carl has helped shape,” he said.
“We are entering an exciting new chapter, built on the strong foundations he has laid, and we remain fully committed to our identity as a proud South Australian club.
“Carl’s legacy at Adelaide United is undeniable. He has led this club with integrity, resilience, and a deep connection to our community, and for that, we owe him our heartfelt thanks.”
Veart led the side to three consecutive league semi-final appearances, alongside an Australia Cup semi-final.
However, the Reds slipped out of finals last season, and look set to do so again this term, with his side sitting in seventh spot amid a torrid run of form.
Arguably the biggest mark Veart will leave is his focus on youth development, with fans coming to expect that talented local youngsters will be given opportunities to springboard their club and national team careers.
Veart will lead the Reds at home for the last time on Friday, August 18 against the Wellington Phoenix, before the side’s final regular season fixture away to Brisbane.
The club has not yet confirmed who will replace Veart for next season.
