Round Ball Australia.

Round Ball Australia.

Football in Australia needs more conversation.

That, in a nutshell, is our mission.

Frustrated ourselves by the lack of available media content to consume, particularly around the A-Leagues, we started the A-Leagues of Our Own podcast at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, to help fill that void.

Over 100 episodes and eight months later, we have branched out to cover the entire Australian footballing ecosystem. The A-Leagues, Socceroos & Matildas, the Asian Cup, the Asian Champions League & AFC Cup, the local NPLs, the creation of the National Second Tier, junior national teams and more.

After a full A-League season, we’re not slowing down in our ambitions to provide comprehensive coverage of the round ball game and generate conversation.

Conversation is what keeps the game moving forward.

The distribution of news, debating of ideas, sharing of stories and even fraught attempts to justify the odd outrageous prediction or opinion; help people stay engaged with the game. They drive deeper connection to the sport and it’s players, and generates wider attention, which the code in Australia so desperately needs.

With that in mind, we are thrilled to announce the official launch of Round Ball Australia.

On this site, we aim to be a home base for Australian football news and opinion. Through our entire online network, the podcast, print work, YouTube and various other social media platforms, we hope to make a significantly positive impact on the media landscape.

You will notice some international content from time to time – Like with the Euros. Part of serving the Australian footballing public is providing world-wide context to the global game, but when possible, it will be done through an Australian lens.

First and foremost, this is a platform for Australian football.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported our podcast this season, even for just a single episode. Without the teriffic response we’ve recieved to the show, we wouldn’t be in this position.

There are also many other independant creators, who are going to great lengths themselves to create content around our game. We value all of them, the football community is a better place with so many people pushing in the same direction. Our door is always open to people passionate about the success of football in Australia.

Here’s to bigger and better things for Australian football.

Cheers,

The Round Ball Australia team
