Our Aussies have been making waves in European football, with standout performances across various leagues and competitions.

The Women’s Super League continues to deliver thrilling action, with a mix of impressive performances and disappointing results.

Dario Vidošić’s successful start at Brighton & Hove Albion, Arsenal’s setback against Chelsea, and Kristianstads DFF’s heartbreaking exit from the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Vidošić Finds His Rhythm

Former Melbourne City head coach Dario Vidošić has enjoyed a near-impeccable start to his tenure at Brighton & Hove Albion in the WSL.

Since joining the Seagulls after a successful stint in Australia, where he led Melbourne City’s A-League Women side to the Premiers Plate and AFC Women’s Champions League qualification, he has suffered just one defeat in five matches, a loss to league leaders, Manchester City.

It comes after his side overcame Crystal Palace 1-0, however Vidošić admitted his side were far from their best.

“I’m happy with the win but we had to grind it out,” Vidosic admitted.

“We were probably our own worst enemies for a lot of that game with so many simple mistakes.”

Brighton & Hove Albion sit in fourth place on goal difference in the Women’s Super League, just one point behind Manchester City.

Arsenal’s WSL Hopes Dented by Chelsea Defeat

Despite being unavailable due to injury, Sam Kerr’s Chelsea continued their fantastic start to the WSL season, defeating Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates.

Even with a stunning solo goal by Caitlin Foord as she took on two players and slotted it inside the far post, two early goals by Chelsea proved to be the difference.

Arsenal now only have five points after their first four games.

Foord started and played the full match for the Gunners, while Kyra Cooney-Cross came on in the second half and Steph Catley was an unused substitute.

Arsenal will now look to turn things around under new management, with Jonas Eidevall resigning as Arsenal manager, as they head into their upcoming UWCL clash against Valerenga on Thursday morning (AEDT).

Kristianstads DFF’s UWCL Hopes Crushed by Late Collapse

Remy Siemsen scored a three-minute brace early in the second half as Kristianstads DFF were unable to hold onto their three-goal lead against Växjö DFF, sharing the points with a 3-3 draw.

Kristianstads DFF were 3-0 up just 50 minutes in when their goalkeeper, Moa Olsson, received a straight red card before conceding three goals in just 17 minutes.

Clare Polkinghorne also started the match for Kristianstads with Siemsen being named Player of the Match.

The result now means that Kristianstads DFF will not be present in next season’s UWCL.
